Huranga is a wild and sacred celebration that takes place just a few kilometers from Agra, where bodies, colors, and laughter blend together until their forms are lost. Everyone—from the young to the elderly—drinks bhang thandai, a traditional beverage made with milk, spices, and cannabis, which heightens euphoria and dissolves inhibitions amidst the chaos of the festivities. Women tear off men’s shirts and hit them with the fabric, while buckets of colored water and flower petals rain down from the rooftops.
